This workshop will give participants advice and the tools necessary to navigate the sometimes confusing process of filling out a Social Security application. This class does not offer certificates of completion and does not meet the OCS requirements of a "parenting class". Because of the weekly hands on "homework" assignments your child must be living with you while you attend this workshop.
Because of the nature of the material presented your child must be no older than 5 years of age in order for you to be eligible for this workshop.
This class is designed to help parents and caregivers of children birth to five who experience special needs and have challenging behaviors by giving them tools and strategies to address and overcome those behaviors.

Positive Solutions for Families: Behavioral Support for Children with Special Needs Ages Birth to Five
This class does not offer certificates of completion and does not meet the OCS requirements of a "parenting class". Because of the weekly hands on "homework" assignments your child must be living with you while you attend this workshop.
Because of the nature of the material presented your child must be no older than 5 years of age in order for you to be eligible for this workshop.
This class is designed to help parents and caregivers of children birth to five who experience special needs and have challenging behaviors by giving them tools and strategies to address and overcome those behaviors.

What are sibshops?
Sibshops seek to provide siblings with opportunities for peer support. Peer support is provided within a lively, recreational context that emphasizes a kids’-eye-view. Sibshops are not therapy, group or otherwise, although their effect may be therapeutic for some children. Sibshops acknowledge that most brothers and sisters of people with special needs, like their parents, are doing well, despite the challenges of an illness or disability. Sibshop facilitators always keep an eye open for participants who may need additional services or supports.

This class does not offer certificates of completion and does not meet the OCS requirements of a "parenting class". Because of the weekly hands on "homework" assignments your child must be living with you while you attend this workshop.
Because of the nature of the material presented your child must be no older than 5 years of age in order for you to be eligible for this workshop.
This class is designed to help parents and caregivers of children birth to five who experience special needs and have challenging behaviors by giving them tools and strategies to address and overcome those behaviors.

This course is a video teleconference class through the Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington. Participants will see and hear experts discuss a variety of topics regarding autism, and interact through question and answer format following the lecture. Positive Solutions for Families: Behavioral Support for Children with Special Needs Ages Birth to Five
This class does not offer certificates of completion and does not meet the OCS requirements of a "parenting class". Because of the weekly hands on "homework" assignments your child must be living with you while you attend this workshop.
Because of the nature of the material presented your child must be no older than 5 years of age in order for you to be eligible for this workshop.
This class is designed to help parents and caregivers of children birth to five who experience special needs and have challenging behaviors by giving them tools and strategies to address and overcome those behaviors.

Objectives:
1. Participants will gain understanding of the change process; including ambivalence, stages of
change development, realistic resistance to change
2. Participants will be able to Identify different types of resistance we encounter and the need to
illuminate the context of oppositional behavior.
3. Participants will gain an understanding of practical techniques to use when dealing with
resistance - functional maladaptive behavior, develop discrepancy, motivational interviewing,
elements of prediction, permission, and control, collaborative problem solving, emotional,
cognitive, and social skill-building, and construct relationship bridges, accepting less than
perfect solutions

Alaska Shotokan Karate is an amateur non-profit sports association dedicated to the practice of traditional Japanese karate. The basic objective is to provide its members a means of developing and strengthening both physically and mentally. To attain this goal, Shotokan Karate adheres to the same high standards and principles set forth by Master Gichin Funakoshi. The guiding principles are Character, Sincerity, Effort, Etiquette, and Self-Control. Special Needs Karate is a class designed for teens (Age 12 and up) and adults who have developmental delays. $40.00/month (prorated for months with holidays). There is an additional $25 yearly association fee.

Open Play for Infants & Toddlers w/disabilities

| Description: |
Program for Infants and Children (PIC) and PIC families have collaborated with Arctic Gymnastics to create an "Open Play" group for infants and toddlers who experience developmental delays and/or disabilities. This Special Needs Group will meet on Friday's from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Arctic Gymnastics.
The reduced fee for the session is $5.00 per child (no charge for parents/caregivers). There is an option of purchasing a punch card. Arctic Gymnastics is located at 3330 Arctic Blvd, #B; phone is 563-3330. Children birth to five are welcome (must be accompanied by parent or caregiver)!
